matchbox twenty (originally Matchbox 20) occurs as modern rock band from Orlando, Florida. A todays members of the band come Rob Thomas, vocals; Brian Yale, bass; Paul Doucette, drums; and Kyle Cook, lead guitar. Thomas, Yale & Doucette experienced played a band Tabitha's Secret in Orlando, Florida before splitting apart to form Matchbox 20 with Gaynor and Cook.
It freed their foremost album, yourself or someone like you in 1996. When their foremost lone, "Long Day", was a rock radio-just smash, the album shortly spun off many Top 40 hit singles throughout 1997 and 1998, including "Push", "3 A.M.", "Real World" & "Back 2 Good". A album yet went in to sell concluded 12 million copies in the Usa alone, earning diamond status.
Prior to recording their next album, Rob Thomas wrote the song for Carlos Santana's comeback album, Supernatural, on which he sang vocals. A song, "Smooth", became the album's lead individual & the mammoth megahit inside 1999, & Thomas would earn many Grammys for writing it.
Within 2000, Matchbox 20 renamed themselves matchbox twenty and discharged their 2nd album, mad season. A video for their first hit only, "Bent", blackguard of singer Thomas' heightened profile by showing a more b& members mug and beat him unmercifully. A evocatively-intended ballad "If You're Gone" became the large hit, especially in adult contemporary formats; "Mad Season" was as well the hit.
For their third album, a more band members demanded equal songwriting credit.
